In conclusion, functionalization of cubic mesoporous silica SBA-1 by direct synthesis as demonstrated in the present study is effective and controllable without observing a significant loss in the long-range order or uncontrollable phase transformation of the cubic mesostructure. Vinyl-functionalized SBA-1 materials possess a better ordered and more stable structure towards the treatments with water and with ethanol/HCl mixture than the pure silica SBA-1 without any functionalization.
