Dan Beach Bradley Perhaps one of the best known Western individuals to enter Siam at the time Bradley was an American missionary who Protestant came to the country in 1835 during the reign of King Rama Ill. He performed medical services for local villagers who called him Mor Bradley immediate and received credibility from them. Bradley was credited with numerous firsts such as performing the first surgery in Siam on January 13, 1837 creating the first Thai script printing press in Siam in and publishing the first Tha named The newspaper Bangkok Recorder on July 4, 1844. He also changed the way Siamese thought about modern Western medicines His greatest medical challenge was producing a vaccine for the smallpox virus that devastated the country and killed his eight-month-old daughter.
