Port Metro Vancouver launched a series of television advertisements in 2013 and 2014 on stories about the goods we import everyday, shore power for cruise ships, the jobs created in BC by Port activities, and the natural resources exported through our Gateway. The advertising we're doing is a continuation of a public awareness initiative the Port has been implementing for many years.
When we meet with the community we consistently hear feedback that people would like to know more about Canada's largest port and our region's maritime history. The Port maintains an extensive community relations program. Last year alone, we attended, led or participated in more than 520 different community events.
As we continue to increase initiatives that educate and inform the public about our mandate, operations and its place in the community, we are introducing new videos that tell real-life stories of people in our communities and their connections to the Port. In addition, our efforts to raise awareness about Canada's largest port include: print and television media, www.PortTalk.ca, a mobile app, as well as a presence on Twitter and Facebook, Instagram and Youtube.
