To obtain CPS, distilled water was added to carob pulp (1:2 w/w)
and the extraction was carried out at room temperature, overnight.
Afterwards, the mixture was pressed and squeezed. The supernatant
centrifuged at 8900g for 20 min at 4 C using an Avanti J-25
I centrifuge (Beckman Coulter, Fullerton, USA) and filtered with a
0.22 lm membrane filter, in order to remove particles in suspension.
In the same way, SCM were also centrifuged and filtered.
