In the last few days we have seen an increase in the reporting of attempted “President’s Fraud”. The pattern is that an employee of NXP receives a mail that appears the be from one of our senior managers. The employee is asked to be prepared to provide support in a transaction that is being referred to in the mail. The support can consist of making cash/funds available, but also providing certain business details.
The mails are typically well written and appear to be coming from a genuine NXP mail address. In the coming weeks towards the closure of the merger we expect the mails to become more advanced and more tailored to the NXP – FSL merger situation. This is possible because more and more information will become known. You have to be prepared for situations where you will receive fake emails and fake phone-calls instructing you to do something.
To deal with the situation we expect you to do the following:
- Do not assume the email instruction for cash/funds or information to be correct, but validate the request
- Always show the mails to your manager, even if the mail instructs you to keep it secret
- Send a copy of the fake mail to
