We performed multivariate analysis
to assess the frequency of physical
therapy both in the NICU and
over the entire course of the hospitalization,
while controlling for age,
admission GCS, craniotomy, use of
mechanical ventilation, use of ICP
monitoring, and ability of the patient
to follow instructions in the NICU.
Only the admission GCS remained
independently associated with less
frequent physical therapy in the
NICU (0.24 [25%-75% IQR=0.03-
0.45], P= .02). None of the variables
remained independently associated
with overall physical therapy frequency
over the course of the
hospitalization
