5. Conclusions
We conclude that exposure to low supplemental UV-B doses of
postharvest lemons, changes the carbon allocation in albedo and
flavedo including synthesis, but probably not only limited to them,
of UV-B absorbing and phenolic compounds. In addition, the UV-B
irradiation, probably, also induces changes in enzyme regulation
and sugars signalling pathways. Furthermore, this work opens the
door toward new studies related to UV-B effects on carbohydrate
metabolism in postharvest fruits.
