The crushed sugarcane bagasse, Saccharum sp., at a concentration
of 10% (w/v) in 0.5% (v/v) H2SO4 was pretreated by autoclaving
at 121 C for 30 min. The solid and liquid fractions were then separated
by vacuum filtration through filter paper (Whatman No. 5).
The solid residue was washed with 500 mL of deionized water and
dried at 50 C for 24 h.
