I) Plant must have an effective written inspection program for all inbound goods and carriers.
II) All railroad cars and trucks must be inspected at time of receiving to assure condition, cleanliness, and that they are free of moisture and free of penetrating odors. They must be in good repair, with no pest activity, and free of foreign substances such as chemicals or odors.
III) Records must be maintained on each inbound shipment to show the condition of the carrier.
IV) The trailer must be free of loose boards, nails, or torn metal that could cause product contamination.
V) Incoming raw materials and other “goods” must be inspected for damage, contamination, and temperature. Accept/Reject guidance must be documented.
VI) Incoming material tracking program must be in place to trace ingredients and commodities from receipt through finished product.
VII) Receiving docks and areas around and under docks must be clean and free of food, garbage, clutter, standing water, etc.
VIII) All ingredients and supplies must be purchased from pre-approved vendors.
IX) Detailed specifications for all purchased ingredient and supplies must be available.
X) Products that require temperature control during transport must be within specified temperature range bases upon an accepted monitoring procedure. If product temperatures do not meet specific range, corrective action must be documented
