The most suitable organization of a corporate memory
depends on how it will be used. The main function of a
corporate memory is to improve the competitiveness of
the organization by improving the way in which it
manages its knowledge. In this context, the notion of
learning organizations as first formulated by Argyris and
Schon (1978) is worth mentioning. These authors, and
also Prahalad and Hamel (1990) view the knowledge
assets and the learning capacity of an organization as the
main source of competitive advantage.
