Therefore, a distillation process was performed to concentrate the ethanol included in the fermented broth for this study. The distillation facility was composed of a mash column and a rectification column. Firstly, the mash column was operated for the first concentration and separation of solid and liquid. Steam was supplied to operate the mash column. After preheating the mash column to over 100 °C, fermented mash was transferred to the mash column. The first concentrated ethanol was collected in the mash column reflux tank, and it was subsequently refluxed to the top portion of the mash column. The temperature of the bottom side was monitored and maintained at over 100 °C to prevent the loss of ethanol. After stabilizing the mash column, the rectification column was preheated using steam, and the first concentrated ethanol in the mash column reflux tank was transferred to the rectification column. After collecting the second concentrated ethanol in the rectification column reflux tank, the ethanol was further concentrated in the rectification column. The produced ethanol was used in the dehydration process.
