Cells of strain KD-15 were grown in a medium containing thick juice diluted by crude whey with varied temperatures (Fig. 2). Ethanol fermentation by strain KD-15 at 30 o C pro- ceeded more slowly than that at 33 o Ce37 o C but finally bore the highest level of ethanol. The lower concentration of ethanol at higher temperature was explained to be the result of reduced consumption of sugars and not the evaporation of ethanol.
