There are many books about how to dress in order to succeed in one’s career or life. I think that those books were written by people who believe that different clothes influence the way people behave. I believe that too. I have two examples to support my point of view.
First, I think that people tend to behave well when they are in a uniform such as a school’s uniform or a company’s uniform. Those who are in uniforms definitely know what roles they play. For example, when I was in high school, I had to wear a uniform with my school name tag on the shirt pocket. Every time I was in the uniform, I knew that I was a representative of the school. I tried my best to behave well by not doing things such as littering which could give my school a bad image.
Second, if the clothes that I wear do not fit a place or an occasion, I behave differently. In other words, I lose my confidence. That is the reason why I pay great attention to the dress code of every party that I attend. I once went to the party where everyone wore red while I wore a white t-shirt. At the party, I lacked confidence and I tried to avoid being in any photos. Moreover, I spent only an hour at that party, which was not my normal behavior.
I totally agree with the statement that clothes influence one’s behavior and people who dress differently will also behave differently. However, clothes are just a visible aspect of people. You cannot judge people only from the way they dress.
