Each designer (Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Kenzo, Emilio Pucci, Shiatzy Chen, Valentin Yudashkin and Zuhair Murad) was selected by Dany Sanz - Artist Director and founder of MAKE UP FOR EVER to create together an inspired piece of art that represents her artistic world. Whether surreal, exotic, baroque or tribal, each painting combines makeup with the dresses in a deft demonstration of artistic skill. About the KENZO body painting, the makeup artists responsible for the creation of the body painting told us their work:
“Our main challenge was to find a way of replicating the patterns on the suit in only six hours of application time. After several attempts, we realized that the only way of creating the patterns was to make stencils cut out with a laser. To achieve the perfect illusion of the jacquard print on the skin, we used Wet Make-up and a blend of metallic finish eye shadows. We had to learn to work in a new way to respect the designer’s world and creation while bringing in our own artistic sensitivity and vision. The success of this body painting is the result of real teamwork and constant dialogue." As Dany so appropriately puts it: “You can’t accomplish anything on your own.”
