Responding units could see a large column of smoke indicating a working fire. Updated information provided to responding units advised that one occupant may have re-entered the burning building.
Arriving Red Oak units reported a working fire in a one story frame house located approximately 3,000 feet off of the main road. Lines were stretched and searches started.
Firefighters quickly attacked the fire from the exterior and after the bulk of the flames were knocked down, lines were advanced to the interior. The blaze was controlled in about 30 minutes.
Nash County Fire Marshal’s was notified and is investigating the cause.
