3.2.2 GREASING
To apply grease on machine parts, use the recommended grease specified in the previous
section. It is essential that the right amount of grease be added. Make sure that the grease
leaves an even coat on the part without, however, applying more than necessary. Excessive or
insufficient application could cause bearing failure. The grease should be slowly pumped until a
small meniscus appears around the sealing gaskets. The meniscus indicates that the amount of
grease applied is sufficient, and prevents contaminants from getting into the component. Wipe
away any excess grease to avoid contamination of the surrounding parts. Use grease gun
where grease fittings are installed. Use a brush everywhere else.
Satellite turret bearings are lubricated for normal bearing life. Replace any defective bearing or
bearing that requires lubrication.
Motor bearings are lubricated for normal bearing life. Replace any defective bearing or bearing
that requires lubrication.
Do not grease slide bushing even if a grease zerk is present, use light oil.
3.2.3 OILING
To apply oil on machine parts, use the recommended oil specified in the recommended lubricant
table. To apply oil machine parts, use an oilcan or a spray can. Make sure that the oil leaves an
even coat on the part without, however, applying more than is necessary. Wipe away any
excess oil to avoid contamination of the surrounding parts.
Note : Slide shafts and bushings have a very precise fit and
required a few drops of oil every 2 days. Doing so will
extend expectancy and precision of the slide
assemblies.
• A light oil film can be applied on frame structure (bare surface only, where applicable) to
prevent corrosion and oxidation of components. Do not apply oil on tooling parts. The
closures must never be in contact with lubricants.
• Wipe tooling parts that have trace of oil
