Light intensity
In all the experiments continuous illumination was employed.
Five different illumination intensities 2000, 4000, 6000, 8000 and
10,000 lux were investigated to determine the optimal light condition for theChlorellasp. growth at the aeration flow of 0.133 vvm
and initial cell density of 0.45 cm
1
. The light was provided unilaterally by a row of fluorescent lamps which were horizontally fixed
on the wall at one side of the photobioreactors (Fig. 1). Therefore,
we only consider the light intensity of one side of the photobioreactor. The received light intensity of the photobioreactor surface
toward the light source was measured by a photometer, which
was considered to be the light intensity value used in experiments
