Jose Mourinho worked first as Sir Bobby’s translator and then assistant manager during spells in Portugal and Spain.
On radio station talkSPORT yesterday, Mourinho, in an interview with former Town player Alan Brazil, said he had learnt a lot about management from Sir Bobby.
“He was a wonderful man really,” Mourinho said. “He was living his football with a passion.
“He was so, so, so proud of his work at Ipswich Town.
“Mrs Robson and the three sons, I don’t have a close contact with, but they are in my heart and I will do anything to support Mr Robson’s causes.
“He was proud of his achievements. His career was fantastic.”
Previously Mourinho has helped raise money for Sir Bobby’s cancer charity by donating special items, such as a signed pair of boots, to be auctioned off.
He also donated the trophy he won for the inaugural FIFA Ballon D’Or World Coach of the Year award in 2010.
