Continuous casting is a process whereby molten metal is solidified into a cast bar suitable for subsequent in-line rolling operations to obtain the rod in various diameters. Non-ferrous rod, either made of copper or aluminium, is the basic material used worldwide by the cable industry to produce cables for the main application of power transmission and distribution and for telecommunication. The continuous casting equipment for producing non-ferrous rod was created by the Italian inventor Ilario Properzi (1897-1976), the founder of the Continuus-Properzi company.
