APEO pose a well-recognized risk in textiles, but current analyti-cal methods for their quantitation (GC and HPLC) are limited and areunsuitable to serve as a reference method. In contrast, the reaction-based HS-GC method presented in this paper moves beyond theselimitations to generate results with good precision (RSD < 10%) andaccuracy (recovery between 95 and 106%). As this method is appliedmore broadly throughout the textile industry, it could lead to theadoption of a widely agreed-upon international standard method.
