Respiration rate was measured in all treatments. Initially, and
after 2, 5, 11 and 14 days of storage, a sample of gas (0.1 mL) was
collected from the inlet and from the outlet flows of each jar and
injected into a gas chromatograph (Shimadzu, model 17A, Kyoto,
Japan) equipped with a thermal conductivity detector (230 ◦C) and
the difference in concentration was referred to the sample weight
and to the air flow rate.
