In the case of surface finish the mode of dressing is found
to be the most influential factor in both the grinding systems.
Surface roughness is the minute scratches formed by the
interacting surfaces under dynamic conditions of the process.
So the wheel topography, which is determined by the
mode of dressing, naturally plays a dominant role in the
nature of the surface generated [15]. Feed, speed and infeed
resulted as next in the decreasing order of their relative
influence in both systems of grinding. The process models
for surface topography also show contribution by the infeed
is less compared to other factors [30]. Speed is found to have
less contribution on surface finish in graphite assisted grinding
compared to that in the coolant assisted grinding.
