The formation of such structures in a mixing vessel could be problematic for purpose of mixing homogeneity since there is little material exchange between isolated mixing regions (IMRs) and active mixing regions (AMRs). It could be suggested that the IMRs structures could lead to poor processing performance, e.g. incomplete extraction in leach processing or production of by-products due to incorrect level of chemical concentrations within the structures.
