I would like to take the opportunity to further discuss the potential Songkran Campaign.
I welcome your feedback and any comments on the following concept:
Collaboration with the relevant Thai authorities, i.e. The Royal Thai Police, Tourist Police, Ministry of Tourism and Sport/TAT, Ministry of Public Health, and of course the Accident Prevention Network etc. and a number of foreign embassies to create a social media campaign on Road Traffic Safety during the Songkran Festival period.
I think we could invite representatives from each stakeholder (i.e. Ambassador, Consul) OR an actor/model from those countries to submit a Songkran theme photograph and a key message to their nationals in Thailand during Songkran. These photographs could then be created into a VDO or a collage for posters in popular tourist areas.
The message could be a slogan, or a phrase:
“Songkran Safe – Don’t drink and drive”
“Songkran is fun, but be responsible – be safe!”
etc.
It would maybe also be interesting to create a series of infographics on RTI statistics during Songkran.
As well as the number of reported thefts and maybe number of hospitalisations of foreign nationals during this period could maybe be part of the “Songkran Safe” Campaign series.
Information on emergency Thai authority contact numbers should be provided, i.e. Thai Tourist Police, Ambulance, Search and Rescue etc.
Ideally this campaign would be ready to run across Thailand from the end of March.
I welcome your feedback, comments, amendments and any additional ideas to the above draft concept, and especially if this is feasible for production and distribution by the end of March. Once the concept is finalised I will get approval from my senior managers at the Embassy.
APN would lead on this campaign.
I look forward to hearing back from you soon!
Best Regards,
Jem
