I can understand from the modder POV that taking shit without asking can just stop all operations, mostly because if we release something, it's bound to have another persons work in it, which they haven't paid a dime for because the spent hours scratch modelling it. I know how hard it is to scratch model if you're a beginner, but if you're one of the T10 guys, or someone at EA, or THQ or whatever, they're professionals. They can scratch models these cars or parts in just a couple of days and THEY GET PAID FOR IT.
That's the key thing here. The modelers couldn't careless about it, because they work as a team, and get paid for it. The only reason the company would care, is because of licensing issues.
I have tonnes of awesome scratch-made stuff I wanted to share with people in my mod when it finally gets released, but it stuff like this, taking without asking or consideration that grinds my teeth. It's really not hard to press a button, and just say "hey man, is it cool if I use this part / car in my mod?"
A great example of this is just today. I asked Rasta if I could use his BN Sports wing that's on the WIP Soarer hillclimb car, he was like "sure, just wait till it's out for testing, and you can take it."
You can have heaven and earth, just have the decency to ask. The old saying goes, "ask, and you shall receive."
