Naturally signs need to be positioned where they can be seen. The ideal is to locate signs so that information is presented just above normal eye level for general ease of reading, which will also accommodate wheelchair users-with tactile signs appropriately located for the partially sighted (which may be additional to the general sign system). However, the concentration of visitors in that particular area should always be considered. If signs are to be located in crowded areas there may be no other option but to place the signs higher so they can be read by everyone at all times-even though this may be at a distance.
