As for the case of ISO 9000 implementation in
Malaysia [4], ‘‘influence from parent company’’ i.e.
directive from top-management was the next most
frequently (67%) cited reason for these firms to seek
registration. Apart from the often believed ‘‘more
authoritarian’’ style of management in local companies,
this may be an evidence of the ‘dominant tendency’ of
the multinational supply chain [34] in which the local
companies were supplying to.
