In this study, two fungal isolates from the soils of bamboo forests
(Hangzhou, China) and Qixia Mountain (Nanjing, China) were screened
to determine their algicidal effects on different freshwater algal species.
The growths of freshwater algal species that belong to Cyanophyta,
Chlorophyta, Bacillariophyta, Dinophyta, and Cryptophyta can be
inhibited by the two fungi. Most of the algicidal fungi belong to the
order Polyporales of Basidiomycota. The two fungi, TA-1302 and
LS-1302, showed the inhibitory effect on most of tested freshwater
algal growth, but accelerated effect on the growth of E. gracilis in
