The biodiesel fuel properties were found to meet the ASTM
D6751 specifications. To improve the energy recovery process from
microalgal biomass, this study also demonstrated bioethanol production
from the lipid extracted residual biomass using saccarification
and fermentation technique. It can be inferred from the
present study that the microalga S. bijugatus can be used as a
potential biomass feedstock in an integrated biorefinery to produce
biodiesel and bioethanol.
