Establishing drying efficiency makes it possible to evaluate
the effects of other parameters that intervene in the process,
such as drying rate, air flow distribution, and
temperature inside the drying chamber, among others.
The uniformity and energetic contribution of the auxiliary
heating system affect the dryer’s efficiency. Boughali et al.
(2009) reported a drying efficiency of 20–30% for forced
convection dryers; however, the efficiency of hybrid dryers
has not yet been reported.
