In vitro antagonistic test
Both the probiotic bacteria, viz., L. plantarum and
B. megaterium exhibited in vitro antagonistic activity
against the pathogenic A. hydrophila. B. megaterium
developed larger inhibition zone (6 cm) than L. plantarum
(5 cm) against on A. hydrophila on MH agar plates.
Safety of the probiotic bacteria
Both the tested probiotics were found harmless to
C. catla as no clinical signs or mortalities were noticed
during the probiotic treatments.
