I Disagree with the people who say that X is no longer really X. I would point out that all bands change, and X has just reached a new stage in it's evolution. For me, there were three stages for them, as of yet.
1. 1982-1991: This was traditional X, considered by many to be there best period.
2. X JAPAN 1992-1997: X saw a switch to more alternative music, and quit playing some of their original hits. Also, the band cleaned themselves up.
3. New X 2007-: Lighter songs, but still X.
