4. Conclusions
In this work, the reaction between glass and LSCF cathode can be effectively reduced by Bi2O3 dopant. In addition to the established role of Bi2O3 as network modifier, the Bi2O3 dopant enhances the [BO3] → [BO4] transition in glass structure and the formation of BiBO3 phase in glass-ceramics, leading to the significant reduction in boron volatility and thus the prohibition of reaction between glass containing 9 mol.% Bi2O3 and
LSCF cathode. The finding on the structural dependence of the glass/cathode reaction will shed lights onto the design of reliable sealing materials for IT-SOFC application.
