Within the power grid sector, smart grids have opened new frontiers for self-optimized operation that is based on bi directional data and command flow between the user and the power sources [6]. The new era of telecommunication and power grid networks brings autonomous operation and adaptation to real time pricing schemes through advanced optimization and control algorithms and strong interdisciplinary cooperation between the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and the power grid sector. Discussions upon the similarities of smart grids and future internet are presented in [4, 7] focusing on how internet network concepts can shape the smart grid technology.
