2.5.2. Thin layer chromatography (TLC) fingerprinting and TLCbioautography
of P. betle extract
For TLC-fingerprinting study, 100 mg of P. betle extract, 5 mL of
pure eugenol (the agent controller) and 1 mg of 4-chromanol (the
agent controller) were prepared in 1 mL of 95% ethanol. A 10 mL of
each sample was applied onto the alumina silica gel GF254 TLCplate,
and was run through a series of solvent systems using a
mixture of toluene and ethyl acetate (90:10 v/v) as the mobile
phase. The plate was air dried, and was stained with a 20% (w/v) of
phosphomolybdic acid in ethanol.
