3.3. Ultrasound extraction
Ultrasound extraction is not commonly used for the extraction
of oils from seeds. Ultrasound waves promote the extraction
through the interaction of the waves with the organic molecules
that are present in the sample, which break the bonds that the oils
have with these molecules. According to Mulet et al. (2003), when
high power ultrasonic waves are applied to a solid–liquid system,
they cause a variety of effects such as heating from the fast and
continuous compression and expansion of the molecules. At the
same time, these expansion and compression effects create
