These are both Lakeshore’s and Kaplan’s
activity carpets. They replicate roadways
and towns and scenery to create a playscape.
These are probably my favorite
carpets as they provide hours of dramatic
and gross motor play for kids. The one on
the top is a Kaplan carpet and has nice
tones overall. The one on the bottom is
nice and graphic but the heavy roads
make a very strong statement in a classroom.
It has a lot of black. The one in the
middle is actually a less expensive material
that last longer and there are many
inexpensive carpets in this category so
when we design to this theme we should
do so with a higher-end carpet in mind
and avoid a lot of gray which the less
expensive carpets seem to have (probably
because they hide dirt well). The one
on the bottom right is cute but the
graphics are too small and I don’t think
pink works well in any carpet for a classroom.
