Challenges
The primary care setting is central to most overweight and obesity reduction programmes. Primary care teams face the challenge of making weight loss strategies practical, effective and sustainable for patients (Swanton and Frost 2007). However, fewer than half of primary care practices in the UK have weight management clinics (Swanton and Frost 2007). In response, the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOE) provides an incentive scheme for GPs to review patients regularly by checking BM values and associated risk factors (Swanton and Frost 2007).
