Maslow’s sixth level of human motivation and development, self-transcendence, is the most accurate description of the new global citizen: people taking responsibility for themselves and the world; people living in a transcended freedom that knows no boundaries. These are the people that are showing that in the modern world of globalization every person, regardless of continent, culture, or region, can be a modern-day Nelson Mandela, Mother Theresa, or Gandhi with the power to shape the future of the world.
