The present study suggested a high potential of feeding strategies based on tropical oil plants such as coconut kernels, sunflower seeds and cottonseed, for enteric methane mitigation in cattle fed with low qualiy roughage and by-products in developing tropical countries. No difference in the methane emission rates was observed between the zebu cattle breeds .The results further showed dthat methane emission rates of Zebu fed a typical tropical feed were much greater than the value of 6.5% predicted by the IPCC
