ear Khun Sittichai, Khun Seri, and steering committee,
I had a weekly meeting with MML-CLS- Adisorn yesterday and among many subject discussed, safety incidents was discussed a lot during the meeting.
Despite effort to emphasizes on safety practice among the three companies, trend in the incidents rate is still increasing.
This is a very important subject which directly impacts the company operations, customer confidence and employee well being.
From the meeting the safety officers from all companies have raise similar issues as follow:
1)they are unclear about investigation protocol after reporting an incident( who they should involve in the investigation, standard procedures and forms.
2)each company have their basic safety guidelines but still missing safety procedures for many of their work areas. (working at height, electrical work, etc)
3)Would like to have monthly safety meeting to share current problems and supports required from safety management.
4)Would like to have standard guidelines/ policy for safety practices among the three companies, which i understand you team is already working on this.
5)They are also unclear about some of the existing policy such as deducting employee salary incase of damage in company asset, not sure how much to deduct. (for example)
6)Many of Employee PPE are passed due date to change, but still do not know where to buy new set, i have already inform them that the purchasing team is in the process of centralizing this. However, the progress may need to be communicate to the employee.
I hope I am not interfering with your work na krub, since i was only management in the meeting, I feel I should communicate these messages to you. I don’t see these type of communication in the Safety Line group krub.
It seems like they are just following order from Bangkok office but not having any safety initiative. I feel many of these issues they raise, required team effort between Operations and Safety team working closely together, not just waiting for management to come up with policy from Bangkok.
Do you think it would be useful to set up a meeting(phone conference) with the safety operation team and safety management team to provide clarification for the issues they raised? And incase there maybe some other inputs from steering committee on this. Please let me know your thoughts na krub
