The measurement device that incorporates the MEMS
sensing element is revolving with the motor rotor. It sends the
data to a stationary microcontroller or DSP board. The system
has to go wireless. In order to gain in simplicity, Bluetooth
(BT) was our first choice. Based on previously developed
application of IM rotor wireless temperature measurement
and wireless IM vector control [8], we used BT transceiver
module to send data to a BT enabled laptop PC and to a DSP
board. The Bluetooth is an open wireless protocol for
exchanging data over short distances. The retained protocol is
the Serial Port Profile (SPP) as it allows simple cable
replacement between two BT chips, one on the embedded
rotating system and the other on the stationary DSP board.
