Traditional banks typically pay lower rates on savings products than their online counterparts. As an example, Chase is paying 0.01% (yes, 0.01%) on savings accounts in my hometown in Ohio. Some branch banks, however, do offer competitive rates. Capital One Bank, for example, offers a rate on savings accounts that is comparable to the online rate offered by Capital One 360 (0.75% as of the date of this article, but always subject to change).
