Therefore, this work is aiming to optimize the conditions to raise high yielding true-to-type plantations of S. acmella by in vitro culture, to determine the ploidy stability of in vitro regenerated plantlets by chromosomal squash preparation and flow-cytometry, and to develop a simple procedure for identification, quantification and enhanced production of spilanthol, a pharmaceutically impor-tant alkylamide, by employing cell and tissue culture technology.
