“Best match” is the name of eBay’s updated search engine, and specifically, the proprietary set of processes that it uses to determine the order in which items are listed by default in shoppers’ search results. Unlike eBay’s previous system, the current system doesn’t simply return results in one of several sorting orders related to time or price. Instead, the “best match” system gives each listing a score based on a number of factors, showing the highest scoring items first.
