Position Duties
The High Voltage Wiring Engineer will lead the packaging and design of high voltage wiring systems for future model hybrid electric Programs. The product engineer will work closely with engineers responsible for body structures, interior trim, and other components which interact with the wiring system to ensure all requirements and specifications are met when packaging the high voltage wiring system. The product development engineer will be responsible for delivering quality, cost, weight and functional requirements while meeting all program milestones.
Design and release of high voltage wiring systems for future model hybrid electric programs including:
Responsible for leading team comprised of suppliers, Purchasing/STA, Manufacturing, attribute teams, interfacing teams, and vehicle team.
Lead Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers
Interpret and apply Industry and Ford wiring/packaging requirements and specifications.
Manage quality foundation documents including dFMEA, SDS, DVP&R.
Lead sizing studies of wiring and connectors for each vehicle application
Design of pass-through grommet sizing and sealing
Design of retention features like brackets, clips, etc.
Phased PPAP process support through supplier visits and sign off at out of state facilities and/or international locations
Support launch of vehicle programs at local facilities, out of state facilities and/or international locations
Minimum Requirements
BS in electrical engineering required (BSEE)
Knowledge of vehicle electrical distribution/wiring systems preferred but not required
Ability to coordinate CAD support
Ability to work effectively with various functions of a vehicle program
Proactive, self-motivated, and attention to detail
Strong teamwork, organizational, oral communication, and written communication skills
Strong leadership skills, able to effectively interact with multiple internal and external stakeholders
