The Ga’ara Formation is unconformably overlain by Late Triassic to Paleogene formations (Fig. 1). The Upper Triassic Mulussa Formation which consists of thick well bedded dolostones, calcareous dolostones, and dolomitic limestone overlays the southern parts of the Ga’ara Formation (Figs. 2a, b and 3a). The other overlaying formations include the Late Cretaceous sandstones of Rutba/Msa’d Formation as in Chabid Al-Abid locality (Figs. 2c and 3b) and the Paleogene Tayarat, and Digma Formations, which consist of breccia and carbonates, as in the Marbat Al-Hisan locality (Fig. 1).
