Examples of the daily course of photosynthesis,
temperature and global radiation given in Figs. 1 and 2 for 2 different
measuring- periods are representative for all other days. The upper half of
the figures shows the trend of global radiation and temperature, and the
lower part presents the net photosynthesis rate, in kg CH20 ha -~ h -1 , calculated
from the difference in CO2 concentration in the in-going and outgoing
air-stream of the plant chamber. For the points of the latter curve,
periods of constant irradiance of sufficient length were selected from the
primary data to be sure that the corresponding photosynthesis rate was
