Race problems play unfortunately a major role in USA.
About Philippines, if I compare it with Thailand, I would not call it 'race discrimination', however but I would say, Filipinos are much more communicative than the Thai, much more talkative
I remember my last trip, Bangkok - Manila/Cebu.
Bangkok / Manila, what a difference...
Bangkok Airport: Check-in and Immigration - lining up, not a single word, not a single look, passport, a stamp in it, move on...
-----
Manila Airport:
Passport control, a rather old woman sitting there as immigration inspector:
Good afternoon, Sir, any visa in your passport? No? OK, 3 weeks for you and apply for extension later on, you stay only 2 weeks? Why not to stay longer? First trip into Cebu? No? I see, welcome back.
Custom officer in Manila/changing to domestic terminal:
Young man, sleepy, suddenly opening his eyes, looking at me
Hallo, Sir, wait, wait, you change the plane? But where is your luggage?
Yes, yes, I know, your luggage is checked through to Cebu - but better pick it up now, bring it to me, and we seal it for Cebu with yellow ribbon/tape, you better check in your luggage again here in Manila for your domestic connection flight - otherwise it might not arrive, you know Sir, hahahaha, always something is missing, that's Philippines...
I found my luggage and I bring it to the same custom officer:
What luggage is that? Used computer parts, old electric tools, used clothings, hand bags, toys, towels, ... I see, for foster child and elementary school, nice to have foreigners helping our children, God bless you my friend ...Yes, and this is your custom form, all cleared - if Cebu customs is asking you about this luggage, just give them this form, inspected already.
People are reacting totally different in Thailand and Philippines, not the same way of life...
Well, you have to decide as I said, anyway, distance is quite short and flights are cheap between Thailand and Philippines.
I know several foreigners, who changed from Philippines to Thailand (coming into Thailand with Filipina wife), however I never heard about a foreigner, who changed from Thailand to Philippines. Not even one!
Maybe this is stuff worth to check out, why this is so...

Just because you never heard of them, does not mean they are not there. I am here in Pampanga Philippines with several guys including me who have changed Thailand for Philippines. And I have several friends who have done the same. We like it better here.
One of the quotes I have heard is " In Thailand they hate foreigners".
