The genus Streptosporangium was first described by
Couch (1955) and then emended by Ward-Rainey et al.
(1996) and Stackebrandt et al. (1997). The genus
currently encompasses 19 species with validly published

html), including the recently described Streptosporangium
anatoliense (Sazak et al. 2012) Streptosporangium
sandarakinum (Ka¨mpfer et al. 2013) and Streptosporangium
